1998 Vilmart Champagne Cuvee Creation

Light citrus and grassy aromas. Fresh, delicate palate with a touch of fruit sweetness. Good balance and drinking nicely now.

N.V. Krug Champagne Brut- Disgorged 29/08/89

Mid gold colour. Vigorous bead. Woody, nutty nose with some mushroom and earth. Palate is okay, a touch wooden and disjointed. Drinkable, but had seen better days.

2002 Bonneau du Martray Corton-Charlemagne

Lemon, toast, oatmeal and matchstick on the nose. Good richness and balance between fruit and acid on the approachable palate. I think this will drink well over the next 8-10 years, but isn’t one for very long term aging.

2000 Domaine Fourrier Morey St. Denis 1er Cru Clos Sorbes

Cherry, earth and spice. Medium bodied, with a light texture and shallow depth. Drinking well now.

87/100

2001 Gerard Raphet Grand Cru Clos Vougeot

Violets, smoke, beetroot and meaty aromas. Palate is simple and lacks depth but it did taste quite good anyway.

87/100

2000 Domaine du Pegau Chateauneuf-du-Pape Cuvee Reservee

Meaty, herbs, corn, raspberry and spice. Good texture and structure on the palate, with well balanced flavours and good length – there was some brett there but the palate wasn’t less for it for my taste.

1995 E. Guigal Cote-Rotie La Turque

Floral, bacon, smoke, violet, tea leaves and white pepper. Utterly superb on the palate, it has a lifted character to it that is delicious. Structured, but lush at the same time. Long, deep and excellent balance. This is a beautiful wine.

1995 M. Chapoutier Cote-Rotie La Mordoree

Licorice, spice and meaty aromas. Good spice and texture to the palate. Medium length with good quality fruit evident.

An interesting light red colour. Red berries, earth and a touch of perfume. very dry on the palate with good acid, freshness and balance.

87/100

2000 Domaine G. Roumier Grand Cru Bonnes Mares

Toasty oak, cloves, red berries and some forest floor. Very interesting and pleasing texture to the palate, excellent length and depth with support from good acid structure.

1999 Domaine Comte Georges de Vogue Grand Cru Bonnes Mares

Almond, pine cones, nutty, red berries, autumn leaves and roasted spices. The flavours dance across the palate. Super length and depth. The tannins are firm but not over the top. Very enjoyable.

2002 Chateau d’Yquem

Coconut, mango, cinnamon and pears on the nose. Rich, dense, unctuous palate – deliciously sweet, perhaps it could use a touch of acid for longevity, but right now this is brilliantly delightful.

95/100

1998 Muller-Catoir Mußbacher Eselshaut Rieslaner Auslese

Pears, spice, honey and straw aromas. Excellent balance between sweetness and acid. Flavours and texture are spot on. This was delicious.
