Inspired by wine blogs like Vinography, I have decided to throw my hat in the ring, with a slightly different focus…

I’m a relative newcomer to the world of wine, and I’ve found that the amount that there is to be learnt can be slightly intimidating.

What I am aiming for with this site is to create a journal that not only helps me record my thoughts on wines and the wine industry, but a place where things are kept simple and fun so that everyone, from wine beginners, to wine connoisseurs can enjoy what I am writing about.

I hope that from what I write, you gain some knowledge of the Australian wine industry and hopefully discover some new wines to try and enjoy (There are few things better in my opinion, that finding a new wine that blows you away with its quality or value for money).

I welcome any feedback that anyone has for the site, be it wine related or otherwise.

What you can expect from me:

Regular tasting notes: From Australian and New Zealand wines from a range of price points and varieties, and from the biggest to the smallest producers. When I get the opportunity, I will also provide some reviews on overseas wine, for comparisons sake.

A variety of varietals Reading some columns from wine reviewers overseas, it would be easy enough to think that Australia only makes big, palate obliterating Shiraz and Shiraz blends. I’m going to be doing my best to cover a wide range of the wines that we produce (with a monster of a Shiraz every now and again for good measure).

Notes from wine tasting and exhibition events: I think that tasting events are a great chance to expand your knowledge of a particular region or country. I will be attending these as often as possible and reporting back on my findings.

Australian wine visiting guides: For those who are visiting our country, I will be producing some guides for the major Australian regions with my suggestions on the cellar doors that are a “must visit”. First up will be my guide to the Barossa Valley in South Australia.

Full disclosure policy: It should be assumed that all products reviewed have been paid for out of my own pocket (or a generous friend). If a winery has been kind enough to provide me with samples, then I will state so in the review.
