What may be considered wacky to one person, is normal to another. So I figured I better find something pretty unusual. Tomorrow, Chez Pim is hosting the fifth edition of Wine Blogging Wednesday, a fantastic idea that was started by Lenn at Lenndevours.

The topic for this edition is “Wacky-name wines” with no restrictions other than, the wackier the name, the better.

I considered a number of the wines from D’Arenberg who are pretty famous around these parts for having some ridiculous names, but none of their wines that I had access to were quite wacky enough. I also tried looking for a sparkling wine (since it is Australia Day tomorrow) but didn’t have any luck.

I think I’ve come up with a pretty good candidate from the Margaret River in Western Australia and I am very much looking forward to participating and seeing what everyone else has discovered.

For those of you in Sydney, I’m going to strongly recommend going along to the Exhibition of Victorian Winemakers at The Menzies Hotel from February 2nd through to the 4th.

The event has some brilliant small and large producers lined up, plus two free tutorials on each day that are included with the $25 entry charge.

I’m personally looking forward to checking out what’s on offer at Curlewis, Dalwhinnie and the always generous Seppelt (who frequently have their entire range available for tasting at these events), along with a number of the other listed producers.

If you are interested in attending, visit http://www.vicwineweek.com for more information on location, times and the list of tutorials available.
